SWAMP - Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program
SOUTHWEST ASSOCIATION OF FRESHWATER INVERTEBRATE TAXONOMISTS (SAFIT)
- The STE SAFIT List of Freshwater
Macroinvertebrate Taxa from California and Adjacent States including Standard Taxonomic Effort
Levels (.pdf)
November 28, 2006 - Defines the standard taxonomic effort level information for the identification of aquatic invertebrates from California and adjacent states, and provides limited taxonomic, distribution and habitat information. This STE supercedes the CAMLnet 27 January 2003 List of Californian Macroinvertebrate Taxa.
- SAFIT Rules for the Development
and Maintenance of the Standard Level of Taxonomic Effort (.pdf)
November 28, 2006 - Adopted at SAFIT's 2006 Fall meeting, the Rules document governs the inclusion of names in the STE, and establishes procedures for maintaining and updating the STE.
- Master Source File (.xls)
An MS Excel 2003 spreadsheet containing a list of aquatic and semi-aquatic invertebrates found in California and surrounding states. The STE is derived from this list. The ultimate goal of this list is to be a complete catalog of aquatic invertebrates found in the Southwest and surrounding areas with basic distribution and habitat information, as well as citations for the appropriate taxonomic references.
- SAFIT Taxonomic Literature Database (.enl)
A bibliographic database created with EndNote (version X). This EndNote Library File includes searchable keywords for many references. At present, the database includes all references cited in the STE and Master Source File as well as other taxonomic and ecological references applicable to western aquatic invertebrates.
In ".enl" format, the references can be downloaded into the user's EndNote or other bibliographic software. When using Internet Explorer, use "Save As" and change the file extension from .zip to .enl." For non-EndNote users, a PDF version is also provided.
