Developing a Groundwater Quality Protection Strategy for the Central Valley Region

On 4 December 2008, the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board adopted Resolution No. R5-2008-0181 in support of Developing a Groundwater Strategy for the Central Valley Region. The resolution directs staff to develop a long-term strategy that will identify high priority activities, recognize the water boards core responsibilities and existing commitments; and build on existing processes. The Central Valley Water Board recognizes the importance of a collaborative planning process and will be doing outreach with stakeholders throughout the development of this strategy.

Groundwater Monitoring Advisory Workgroup

The group will advise and provide comments to Central Valley Water Board staff on technical issues related to how groundwater monitoring studies are conducted and evaluation of monitoring data. The initial meeting of the groundwater monitoring advisory workgroup was held on 8 June 2009. The group is composed of groundwater experts from the State Water Resources Control Board, U.S Geological Survey, academia, and private consultants.
