Frequently Asked Questions
Enrollment Process
- When will my SWMP be evaluated?
- See updated schedule
- How can I participate and provide input into the SWMP development and approval process?
- If you are an MS4, Water Board staff will contact you at the beginning of your enrollment cycle providing you with information regarding your participation. If you are a member of the public you can sign up on the lyris list to receive updated information regarding the enrollment process. To provide input in your communities SWMP, contact your local municipality. A list of MS4 contact information is located here (Contact your MS4).
- I have already submitted a SWMP, will I need to redraft and submit another SWMP?
- Most likely you will be required to redraft your SWMP. Please review the Water Board’s expectations of SWMP content outlined in the Notification Letter and review the approved SWMPs for the Monterey Regional Group, the County of San Luis Obispo, and the County of Santa Barbara. Water Board staff will review the current version of your SWMP that is on file with the Water Board and will provide you comments on the SWMP.
- Should I start redrafting my SWMP now or should I wait to hear from the Water Board?
- You should be prepared to redraft your SWMP. You are not required to submit a revised SWMP until you receive comments from Water Board staff. If you would like to submit an updated SWMP for Water Board staff to review please do so prior to Phase II of your enrollment cycle.
- How will the renewal of the statewide Phase II general permit effect my SWMP and the Water Board’s enrollment strategy?
- Water Board staff does not expect the general permit renewal to affect the Central Coast Region’s enrollment strategy. Any new requirements included in the revised general permit will be addressed once that permit is adopted (link to State Board’s Phase II status webpage).
- I want my SWMP approved sooner than the proposed schedule, can my SWMP be scheduled for approval sooner?
- The Water Board has determined that the most efficient use of staff resources is to follow the enrollment strategy as planned. Alternative schedules may be considered at a future time if staff resources are augmented or reallocated.
- Do I have to monitor?
- Your SWMP must include actions to assess the effectiveness of the BMPs you implement. In some cases this means monitoring outfalls and/or receiving water bodies.
