BeachKeeper Citizen Monitoring Program Baykeeper project educates and trains community volunteers to collect quantifiable water quality data that is used to identify and eliminate individual sources of urban runoff. The project will continue this project by conducting a citizen monitoring of over 3000 storm drains that flow to the Santa Monica Bay, focusing on source monitoring at the most severely polluting storm drains. Beachkeeper Citizen Volunteer Monitoring Project The goal of the citizen monitoring project is to involve residents in proactive identification of pollution from stormdrains in communities, giving the Baykeeper an opportunity to eliminate the source of this pollution before more harm is done to the Santa Monica Bay. The objectives of this project are 1) increase the number of volunteer Baykeepers by 50% to a total citizen monitoring force of 100, 2) expand water sampling done by the volunteers from twice a year to four times each year and modify the analytic plan to include total organic carbon(TOC) and heavy metal analysis Santa Monica Bay Santa Monica BayKeeper
