Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act requires the identification of waterbodies that do not meet, or are not expected to meet, water quality standards (i.e., impaired waterbodies). The affected waterbody, and associated pollutant or stressor, is then prioritized in the 303(d) List. The Clean Water Act further requires the development of a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for each listing. The current list, approved by the EPA, is the 2006 303(d) List. The State and Regional Boards are currently working on updating the 303(d) list as part of the development of the 303(d)/305(b) Integrated Report update.
